Project Title: Center for Integrative Environmental Research (CIER)

Principle Investigator(s): Matthias Ruth (Public Policy)

Abstract: Matthias Ruth currently conducts funded research through the Center for Integrative Environmental Research (CIER) on the potential impacts of climate change and adaptation strategies. Projects cover analysis at international, national and regional levels, and explicitly include energy sector strategies in its relation to other sectors of the economy. Part of his international work is for the OECD and some of it is located in Europe. Nationally, he explores climate impacts and the cost of inaction across all major sectors and regions of the US. Regionally, his work has concentrated on mitigation and adaptation strategies for Maryland, leading to legislative decisions and contributing to various efforts by the Governor's Commission on Climate Change, of which he is a member. Recent CIER reports summarizing projects and findings are available at www.cier.umd.edu.
