Imaging the electrochemical activity of all-solid-state nano-architectured batteries

Abstract: 

Understanding the electrochemical functionality and the morphology changes of electrodes on the nanometer scale are crucial to engineering improved all-solid-state batteries. This project aims to identify and control the mechanisms for Li-ions diffusion within the anodes by resolving their electrical properties and chemical composition through scanning probe microscopy metrology. Our research will provide a new platform for the correlation between nanoscale electrical and structural properties in electrode materials and has the potential to be expanded to a variety of systems, including Na-ion batteries.
