Khaligh receives Junior Faculty Outstanding Research Award

Associate Professor Alireza Khaligh (ECE/ISR) is the recipient of the A. James Clark School of Engineering's 2016 Junior Faculty Outstanding Research Award.

Khaligh has established an impressive program in power electronics, pioneering high-impact research on ultra-compact, integrated and highly efficient power electronic systems for electric vehicles, more electric aircrafts, energy harvesting systems and micro robotics. He is an author or co-author of two books, four book chapters, 50 journal papers and 89 conference papers.

Khaligh's publications have been cited over 4400 times (Google Scholar), with an H-index of 30. Khaligh also has been at the forefront of major power electronics events. He was the general chair of the 2016 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition and the general chair of the 2013 IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo.

Previously, Khaligh received the 2013 Best Vehicular Electronics Award from the IEEE Vehicular Electronics Society, the 2010 Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers, and the 2009 Excellence in Teaching Award from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He also received the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department's George Corcoran Memorial Award in 2013.

The current award is one of the highest honors the Clark School gives to junior faculty. Dean Darryll Pines wrote to Khaligh, “I am so pleased that you decided to join our college a few years ago. You have been a wonderful colleague and an outstanding researcher.”
