P2OWDER Lab's Green Efforts Profiled in the Diamondback

P2OWDER—the Pursuing Particulate Opportunities with Dedicated Engineering Research group led by Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering professor and chair Sheryl Ehrman—was featured in the March 11 issue of the Diamondback.

The article, "Researchers work with particles to promote greener products," highlighted the P2OWDER Group's expertise in particle research, which it uses in projects ranging from monitoring air pollution in the state of Maryland to devising new manufacturing techniques that make particle-based technologies and products, such as industrial coatings, more environmentally-friendly. The group is also developing photovoltaic particles that harvest solar energy, which in turn is used to split water molecules in fuel cells. The process, if perfected, could end the need for electric cars to plug in to recharge.
