Center Seeks Three Faculty Positions

The new multidisciplinary University of Maryland Energy Research Center (UMERC), administered by the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland, seeks three new faculty members—two senior and one junior—for the fall of 2008.

The Center’s objective is to advance the frontiers of science and technology in the broad area of energy, with special focus on forward-looking approaches for alternative energy generation and storage.

The two senior appointees will fill existing chairs within the College, one appointee serving concurrently as Center Director.  Senior candidates should have a distinguished record in energy-related research and broad understanding of domestic and international energy issues and technology programs.  The candidate for the junior position should demonstrate strong research interest in energy-related topics and commitment to educational programs.

Each of the three new faculty can be appointed to any of the college’s departments. For best consideration, applications should be received by October 31, 2007.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest, full resume including list of publications, and names of at least four references, preferably in PDF format, by electronic mail, to: Lisa Perez, Office of the Dean, at umerc.eng@gmail.com.

The University of Maryland is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer with a strong commitment to the principle of diversity.  Minority groups and women are especially encouraged.
